purge it. anyone could be the boss or superior. We all are equal and given with different roles with same hardness test. For example, GRE one sit for today, another tomorrow and the question may come different,however it is enshrined that test hardness is the same for all.
So call sir to your boss in office, no matter whether senior in age or gender etc.
Greeting ingrained code

It is not required to greet when you see someone.
Greeting is an opportunity to earn points. Some will take it, and some not.
Again it is not required to respond to greeting. Responding to greeting is also an opportunity, though a little less than giving, to collect reward.
We all are equal , however not all could be friends or relatives or family members. So dont forcefully think that someone is my friend, it should be mutual. Look into the body language.
salam giving procedure

give salam.If not responded, raise your hand like a fist, Do this like for three times. In the fourth time, politely say I have given salam. Now in the fifth time if still not acknowledged, it is up to your decision whether to continue greeting or stop. By the way, once you stop it does not mean you could not start giving salam again in future. With time situation changes, and the unresponding person may start acknowledging to your salam.
Do the opposite thing instead of looking down in first eye contact, keep it ,then go right to left or left to right slowly.Up to down, down to right,then left,up then down,right. This is the rhythm - right left up down right left up down!
