humbleness, humility, greetings dilemma : some tips

If you find difficult to say greetings first to others special, especially to those of lower social standings and not so jovial, you may keep your eyes down and verbally say greetings. In this way you will not get offended and the other person options to reply or not. Later if he replies back, you may look up.

If you feel pride and expect honorable mention, what you could do is to filter out the honorable mention as you someone says to you. In this way, you would reduce the hankering for such honorable mention.

Again use passive to others to whom it may be still socially lower status pronoun is used. And start everyone with M, Mr,Miss,Dr,Engr and end with shaheb, bhai, sir silently.

9 minutes or 12 minutes or 17 minutes Talk format proposition

9 minutes talk = 7 minutes talk+ 2 minutes question ans as delivered to him by text, jotted .During ans the person may stand up if he/she wants to name him/her for the questions.

If someone requires more time, he may go for double dose so it makes 18 minutes.

It may be noteworthy that standard Tedx talks are of 18 minutes duration and there is no question ans session or interaction with the audience.

If 9 minutes seem too small
++++++
In such cases, one may go for 12 to 17 minutes option. It may be like 9 minutes talk+3 minutes Question Ans.It the speaker does not want QA session or there is no question from audience, the speaker may continue for another 3 minutes or share some storeis or experience. Then three minutes would be gap time when the speaker go up and down and announcement.

For 17 minutes slot it may be like 14 minutes talk+3 minutes Question Ans. Then three minutes would be gap time when the speaker go up and down and announcement.

Stages of Personal development : love your work or do not work at all and related stages

1.The topmost one, the highest one and the most desired one in the pyramid is the philosophy mentioned by Kahlil Gibran, that is, love your work or do not work at all.
http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2007/12/love-your-work-or-dont-work-at-all/

2. Do something close to your passion/like according to the situations.

3. Do what one could do best according to comparative advantage

4. Do something that would provide money and a living

It is suggested one would try to go up the ladder all the time and not to stay in the lower stage for more than 1 year, highest 3 years.

Another option is to do something close to your passion for living and in the spare time do what you like. In most of the jobs, it may not be feasible but there are a few jobs where you could do so like teaching. Alternatively you may not directly involve due to restriction but give advice to your family members or someone else doing so. As the age goes up, it may be difficult to go to stage 1, in such cases spare time option may be suggested.

For women, the path would be according to the situations.

Whatever stage one stays at any given time, he is always in equal form with all, that is one is to do good and atleast refrain from doing bad things.

50+ blocking rule,80+ chair election rule : a new approach

Quorum rule: 20% of the members or three Members, whichever is higher, including at least two incumbent Officers, shall form a quorum.

50+ blocking  rule: if 50 percent or more of the executive committee members raise their hands or go against the decision of the chair in secret ballot, then the chair would try to get consensus. But if it is not possible, secret ballot will be held and if 80 percent or more vote do not go against the chair,in that case the chair's decision remains. However, 80 percent or more go against his decision, his decision will become null and void. It may be a better check and balance.

80+ chair election rule: chairperson elected by vote, then the Chair selects his/her aides
>>>>
Chairperson should be elected by secret ballot. The previous committee may name a few probable persons to the members. Again, any member could propose a suitable candidate for president. Later members would give his preference as president to different persons, atleast two. He may give preference from the list provided by the former committee or anyone he likes.
If a candidate gets 80 percent or more,he will be deemed elected.
If no one gets 80 percent or more, second round election will be held between top two vote earners. In this second round, simple majority vote will decide the winner.

In chairperson election, every member at any level is eligible to vote.
50 percent or more members voting is required for the election of chairperson. If voting rate is less than 50 percent, second round would be held between the top two and one would be elected on simple majority.

After the chairperson is elected, he would fill up other core positions. At first in the AGM, consensus would be sought. If consensus could not be reached, the chairperson would nominate the core positions. However, 80 percent member may block any core position nomination by the chairperson. At this case, consensus would be sight and if failed secret ballot would be held and simple majority would decide the winner.

For election of core positions, 50 percent or more executive committee members should be present. If such quorum could not be reached, then 20 percent presence of executive committee members would do.

For core position election, chairperson and regional committee should be formed earlier. Chair and selected no of persons by the chair of the regional committee  of each regional committee will have ex-officio membership in the central committee that may be called central council. So chairperson , ex-officio members of the executive committee, elected council members from region, past committee would elect core positions through council. For the core position, they could elect any member. Outgoing executive committee members may have voting rights for the selection of core positions.

Candidates may go for campaign or in some cases campaign may be restricted.

If someone is not nominated by the past executive committee or search committee, he or she or his/her nominator should pay some fee to cover up printing or online voting cost as the more name in the ballot, the more cost. However, the cost would not be much in online but processing and reporting would be increased as those are done by human beings.

Executive Committee and Central Council
>>>
EC is solely selected by Central Chair.
Central Council will have some ex officio members. It may be like
-From regional committee, regional chair and one person nominated by regional chair would get place in central council. Then a few say two persons elected by regional members from their region will get place in Central council.
-Central chair may appoint 20 percent or more members as central council member as per his discretion though it is not mandatory.

do what you love another narrative

You don't think you can do anything else.

That's the best reason of all to quit your job. I know what you're thinking: "I make too much in my current job; I'll never find something comparable." Or, "There just aren't any jobs where I live." Or, "I've put too much time into this company (or career or industry)."

Or, "I don't have what it takes to start my own business."

All those things are true--if you let them be true.

You can do something else. You can do lots of something "elses."

You just have to believe--and trust that your creativity, perseverance, and effort will take you to new, happier, and more fulfilling places. Thousands of people start their own businesses ever year. The only difference between you and them? They decided to take the chance. They decided to bet on themselves.

They decided that life's too short to just stay where they are instead of doing everything possible to live a better life.

complain for others , not for yourself unless its too bad

As a thumb rule, it would be better to complain for others when service has gone wrong.

For yourself, if the service is around 20 percent ok, you may not complain for you.

Do not use tangential slanted remarks, do not rebuke, do not raise voice -- what you need to say , say it in normal cool voice except in the rare case.

Kahlil Gibran’s philosophy: love your work or don't work at all

quote from Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet:

    Work is love made visible.

And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is
better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the
temple and take alms of those who work with joy.

Everyone has been made for some particular work, and the desire for
that work has been put in every heart. - Rumi - Persian Poet

If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep the streets
as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare
wrote poetry. - Martin Luther King - American Civil Rights Leader

Optimal break time: after 52 minutes work take 17 minutes break

DeskTime, a productivity app that tracks employees' computer use, peeked into its data to study the behavior of its most productive workers. The highest-performing 10 percent tended to work for 52 consecutive minutes followed by a 17-minute break. Those 17 minutes were often spent away from the computer, said Julia Gifford at The Muse, by talking a walk, doing exercises, or talking to coworkers.
http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2014/09/science-tells-you-how-many-minutes-should-you-take-a-break-for-work-17/380369/

Perhaps managing our office energy is a lost art. In the mid-1920s, an executive in Michigan studying the productivity of his factory workers realized that his employees' efficiency was plummeting when they worked too many hours in a day or too many days in a week. He instituted new rules, including an eight-hour work day and a five-day work week. "We know from our experience in changing from six to five days and back again that we can get at least as great production in five days as we can in six," he said. "Just as the eight hour day opened our way to prosperity, so the five day week will open our way to a still greater prosperity."

That company turned out to be one of the most profitable companies of the mid-twentieth century, and the boss at its helm is remembered as one of the most talented executives in American history. His name was Henry Ford.

Take massive 10X actions, ordinary people don't take any action let alone massive action

“Assume that every project you attempt will take more time, money, energy, effort, and people than you can imagine.  Multiply every expectation by 10, and you will probably be safe.  And if doesn’t take 10 times more than anticipated, great.  It is better to be pleasantly surprised than greatly disappointed.”

only 5 users are required to do a reasonable usability testing or any other survey

why you only need to test with 5 users
http://www.nngroup.com/articles/why-you-only-need-to-test-with-5-users/

Great article stating Elaborate usability tests are a waste of resources. The best results come from testing no more than 5 users and running as many small tests as you can afford.

In earlier research, Tom Landauer and I showed that the number of usability problems found in a usability test with n users is:

N (1-(1- L ) n )

where N is the total number of usability problems in the design and L is the proportion of usability problems discovered while testing a single user. The typical value of L is 31%, averaged across a large number of projects we studied. Plotting the curve for L =31% gives the following result:

The most striking truth of the curve is that zero users give zero insights.

As soon as you collect data from a single test user, your insights shoot up and you have already learned almost a third of all there is to know about the usability of the design. The difference between zero and even a little bit of data is astounding.

The curve clearly shows that you need to test with at least 15 users to discover all the usability problems in the design. So why do I recommend testing with a much smaller number of users?

The main reason is that it is better to distribute your budget for user testing across many small tests instead of blowing everything on a single, elaborate study. Let us say that you do have the funding to recruit 15 representative customers and have them test your design. Great. Spend this budget on 3 studies with 5 users each!

1 to 3 years switch over period to the work you love

I think before you get into doing the actual thing you never what it feels. So I guess one should take a money job or business and hold on it for a year. During this time in his spare time he should explore things he likes. Then gradually moves to the job or business he likes. After a year if going for what you like risks earning too little for living still it is worth to go for it.

For a more cautious person, he may take 2 years and highest one could take is 3 years. Well, if you notice that most of the assignment for higher management usually given for two or three years and some cases for one year. The reason may be in the first year you go most of the things encountered by the organization or system and in the second year you could implement your ideas. And if you get third year then you could tweak something based on your learning. In generally the best one usually does in second year and then it becomes like diminishing return. However, as human being life is short, it may be better to just test the ground for one year and then move on.

Excerpts from different sources on the topic::::::::::::::::

Two routes
>>
Two Routes

There's another sense of "not everyone can do work they love" that's all too true, however. One has to make a living, and it's hard to get paid for doing work you love. There are two routes to that destination:

The organic route: as you become more eminent, gradually to increase the parts of your job that you like at the expense of those you don't.

The two-job route: to work at things you don't like to get money to work on things you do.

The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you

hobby and Great advice
>>
When you love doing something people don’t want

This is a hobby.

Doing something you enjoy that nobody will pay you for is not a sustainable career.

There are two ways to approach a hobby like this: either be content to keep it as a hobby and focus elsewhere for your income, or work hard on it until your skills are good enough that people will pay you for it.
http://blog.crew.co/love-what-you-do/

Doing what people want when you don’t love it

The other extreme is to do something you don’t enjoy which is in demand. As a day job that supports other pursuits, this can work for a limited time. But if you’re building a career doing something you don’t like, you’re heading towards chronic stress, drain, boredom, and possible burnout.
